New Hampshire State Requirements for Licensing

Initial License

Note: Effective November 3, 2025, all paper applications submitted to the OPLC will require the OPLC universal application in addition to your profession specific application. Both the universal application and profession specific application are required to be submitted to the OPLC  Universal Application for Initial Licensure .pdf Icon

Renewal of License or certification

Note: When you renew your license there will be additional, and possibly duplicative, information you are required to fill out. You will not be able to renew your license without submission of the universal application. If you have submitted your application online or submitted a paper application prior to November 3, 2025, no further action is required. All paper applications received after November 3, 2025 will require the Universal Application. Online applications will not require a universal application at this time. Universal Application for License Renewal .pdf Icon

    • The Universal Application for License Renewal also serves as a Reinstatement application for licensees who have been expired for under one year.

ASHA certification is not required for NH State Licensure

Speech Language Assistants and audiology assistants

Speech Language Assistants are licensed through the NH Office of Professional Licensure and Certification. ASHA offers an optional national certification (C-SLPA) which is helping to set the standard among states. Obtaining a National Credential could help advocacy efforts across our state and profession; consider joining the movement. Learn more here

In New Hampshire, there is no specific state-mandated certification for Audiology Assistants, but ASHA offers a national certification (C-AA) that is widely recognized by employers and required for certain settings.

Continuing Education

What are the Continuing Education requirements for Licensure/Certification Renewal in New Hampshire?

  • Audiologists: 20 hours of continuing education per 2-year renewal cycle

  • Speech language pathologists: 30 hours of continuing education per 2-year renewal cycle

  • Speech language assistants: 12 hours of continuing education per 2-year renewal cycle

As of November 1, 2024, NH requires Speech Language and Hearing licensees to use a new continuing education tracking system, called CE Broker, to submit CEUs for approval and license/certification renewal.

New Hampshire no longer requires in-person CEU hours. For more information regarding CEU requirements, visit the OPLC page here

ASHA is able to electronically transmit course information and ASHA CEUs earned through any ASHA CE Providers directly to CE Broker on your behalf.  In order to take advantage of this feature, you must have paid the applicable ASHA CE Registry fee and provided your state license number to ASHA.

Contact ASHA with your NH license number so they can forward your ASHA CEUs.

Contact CE Broker for more information and to set up your free account.

If you are unsure of any required credits for renewal, please contact OPLC Customer Support at [email protected]

**While SLAs are required to use CE Broker to self track hours, they are not eligible for the ASHA CE Registry. If this is something you would like to advocate for, please contact ASHA and/or the NHSLHA SLA advisor, Amanda Perry at [email protected] with your interest**
